‘£ 50million, priceless’: Some Chelsea fans react after manager says he wants their player
Chelsea supporters put a variety of price tags on Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s head after Scott Parker confirmed he would be interested in signing him permanently to Fulham.
Parker has said he would be more than happy to turn the 25-year-old’s Craven Cottage loan from Chelsea into an indefinite loan next season.
“Would I try to sign it definitively?” Yes of course,” Parker told Football London.
The response from Blues fans was a mixture of not wanting Loftus-Cheek to leave his parent club and others willing to let him go for a fee.
For all his undeniable quality and talent, Loftus-Cheek never really made it to Stamford Bridge.
There were certainly times when it looked like the finished product.
He enjoyed a particularly prosperous period under Maurizio Sarri in 2018/19, making 40 appearances and scoring ten goals.
Unfortunately, Loftus-Cheek was unable to continue in the next campaign.
After ruining his Achilles tendon, the midfielder missed nearly six months of action for Chelsea and rarely had the chance to prove himself to Frank Lampard.
Her move across London to Fulham has so far evoked a happy relationship.
Although both sides are happy with the current situation, things could turn less rosy if Parker’s side were relegated from the Premier League.
Fulham might find it difficult to keep Loftus-Cheek, who will feel like they belong to the Premier League.
There will certainly be a lot of teams interested in signing him, even if Chelsea are not among them.
The Chronicle view of Chelsea
I am a big fan of Ruben. Always have it and always will be.
But sometimes you have to let go of the ones you love the most.
He looks happy to Fulham and I hope for both of them that they will stay on their feet so he can settle down to a place he feels he belongs to.
