Arsenal starlet said to ‘stick with football’ after making constant complaints
Former Arsenal player Michael Thomas has denounced William Saliba for his regular complaints about his lack of chances with the club.
There were high hopes for Saliba when he joined Arsenal from Saint-Ettiene in 2019. However, he still hasn’t made a senior appearance for the club.
The defender spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Saint-Ettiene. On his return to Emirates Stadium for the current campaign, he was excluded from Arsenal’s squad lists.
Therefore, he left for another loan in January, this time joining Nice.
The deal is expected to last until the end of the season, but some have already claimed it could be extended. It certainly looks like Saliba isn’t thinking too much about his return to Arsenal.
The 19-year-old has regularly criticized his parent club’s management of his career. More recently, he blasted manager Mikel Arteta for judging him only on “two and a half matches”.
It followed up on comments from last month, when he said Arteta told him he wasn’t ready for the first team – despite his will to prove to him that he is wrong.
As Saliba quickly became a controversial figure, former Arsenal midfielder Thomas advised him to tone things down.
“The one his advisers don’t help,” said Thomas Caught Offside.
“He’s a young boy who doesn’t have a lot of experience making requests and speaking without references.
“A lot has happened in the past year and he just needs to get down on his knees and stick to the football.”
Arsenal transfer decision announced
Saliba isn’t the only talking point when it comes to Arsenal’s decision-making issues in the transfer window.
The club have recently come under fire for letting one of their oldest players go.
The decision came back to bite them recently, and it sparked a response from a Premier League expert.
